A Sneak-Peek Into The Business World Of 2020
Fifteen years ago, sending emails via your mobile was considered a futuristic concept. Today, we can log into our offices at anytime from anywhere, and attend meetings at the click of a button.
Technology has come a long way, and with new advancements being introduced almost every minute, it is sure to affect the way we work over the next decade. Having said that, from holographic meetings, to robotic colleagues, here are the top 5 working practises that are predicted to change by 2020:
Wear Your Computers?
Remember those bulky computers that needed at least three trips to shift? With our sleek laptops (that are getting thinner by the day) working while on the move is not a new concept. Moreover, with the introduction of mobile watches by technology giants like Apple and Samsung, you can pretty much be connected anywhere, anytime. But, what next? How about wearing not just your mobiles, but computers as well! Sounds impossible? Not if Nokia’s ‘Morph’ concept device goes as planned. The device you’ll be carrying in the future can be worn not only as a wrist-watch, but as a necklace as well. The best part is that the battery charges using solar energy, so you don't need to even stay close to a power socket! Time to get some sun, maybe?
Bid Adieu To Long Travel Hours?
Thanks to virtual offices present in many business centres in India, one doesn't need to be physically present at the workplace to get work done. And, researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology are trying to make the experience of working even better! Their prototype called SixthSense, a wearable device, has the ability to turn the world around you into a computer. Want to write an email? Project a keyboard into the air and get typing. Need to browse? A screen appears in view, which you can navigate with small gestures. Sounds like a movie, doesn't it?
Robots as Personal Concierges?
Remember that time when you had to do all the paperwork and administrative work along with managing your business? Well, those times are a thing of the past now, with business centres in India providing personal concierges for all administrative needs. But, things are about to get better! Robots will be used for administrative jobs. From answering phones, maintaining records, paying bills and many more, robots will definitely make life easier.
With the introduction of virtual offices, many studies have shown that employees who are allowed to work from anywhere, based on their convenience, are more productive than their office-based counterparts. And, with the help of technological advancements, employees are sure to be more happier and productive. After all, it’s not that we use technology, we live technology!
